Players Present:

  • Matt K.
  • Christopher [Cameo from Kids group]

We started with Yon being summoned to attend to the King. After being assigned to mingle in the high court, Talios made an entrance. Yon, recognizes Talios, a high ranking noble, and loyal bodyguard of the royal family. Talios makes his way over to Yon and they start discussing various topics. Meanwhile, Oliver is trying to hide out of view near one of the servant entrances, when he’s tackled with a girlish squeal of “DOGGIE!”. Being a rather tall 4′ 6″ and 90lbs Anthromorph Fox, he’s surprised to be taken down by an 8 year old girl. Extricating himself and rushing to hide behind Yon, he avoids the girl, whom is taken in hand. Oliver is introduced to Talios. Yon is surprised to see his friend from eight years ago is now a mute.

Yon takes Talios and Oliver back to the mansion – Yon gets two Bracers from the Mansion Butler, and is told by Merrick about the Skeletal structure outside of town. After a bunch of introductions – Oliver and Talios are introduced to the ragtag group of misfits.

Yon, leads the group out of the town. The guards at the gate bow respectfully to Talios. They see the structure and see a group of skeletons heading into the forest. Felix bolts to the forest, Oliver tries to stop him, but does slow him down. Felix then becomes Huge. Oliver goes to tackle him before whimpering and going into a small ball. The rest of the group sees the skeletons are being fought by wolves, and none other than the Big Bad Wolf. Yon engages a skeleton, but misses, instead he goes after Big Bad Wolf. Big Bad Wolf leads his ‘pack’ to engage more skeletons. Yon finally lands a blow on the Big Bad Wolf, one of the other wolves takes Yon to the ground [3 Hp left]. Oliver intercepts, the Big Bad Wolf, takes off and howls, the rest of the pack takes off after. As the Big Bad Wolf passes Harold and Gaby, he tosses a pouch to them.

The group gathers, Burgmor identifies the contents and weapon crystals, two of them will deal additional damage to undead, the third does the same, but will also allow critical strikes.

Continuing onward, they return to the skeletal structure, and a field of death surrounding it. After overcoming the Umbral magic, the group enters the massive structure. Inside, a skeleton is slowly forming between Four Columns, with shadowy weaves. A chalice of Undeath sits atop a lattice above the four columns. Felix blasts it down, Oliver tumbles and grabs it, but not before the blood spills upon the ground and a Large Skeleton appears fully formed. They destroy the skeleton, Yon unleashes a powerful Lightning Bolt Blast; Gaby sneak attacks and takes it down. A set of Bracers are found, and Burgmor discovers they create gauntlets of force. He grabs the chalice and sticks it in his Band of holding. After that, the structure begins to collapse, Yon reacts fast and escapes before the structure collapses on him. The entire group is coated in white bone dust.

We ended on time at 9pm.

Where Matters of the Heart are concerned

Lots of Good Stuff… I’d have to say this session was very intense in terms of raw role-playing. The majority of the focus was on Liam Archon, but there was lots of action on the sidelines to involve the rest of the group. There are still rough portions, but this is post worthy at this point.

Bullet Points:

  • Recap after Shadowman vs. Peacock Man Encounter.
  • The Raven Encounter
  • The Tournament Action
  • After the Tournament Action
  • The Duel For Duchess Chi’s Hand In marriage
  • The Draw – Bequeathing 10 Acres of Land to GK
  • The Bachelor Party
  • The Dark Deeds
  • The Wedding & Wedding Feast
  • The Absolution of Crime from Burgmor
  • The War Footing
  • END GAME

We began our game approx 15 minutes late. Matt K provided a recap paraphrasing the log on the site. The GM clarified a few points that the players were confused about and after getting off the ground we picked up the game.

Our weary heroes headed back to Harold and Gaby’s hangout. They opted to take watches, Felix curled up in a corner and woke after a nightmare. On second watch Harold noticed a Raven watching them from a rooftop across the way. He managed to catch it unawares till – ‘crack!’ a roof tile had cracked beneath Harold’s feet and the bird took flight. Harold’s fast reflexes allowed him to catch the bird. With the bird in hand, he returned to the hangout and woke Burgmor and Yon. Burgmor detected the presence of Enchantment / Charm magics fading from the animal, and You determined the bird was not evil. Harold placed the raven into a crate and the rest of the evening passed.

Duchess Chi insisted Liam attend the Tournament as she had to attend as it was a royal court function. It was learned the Tournament was being held in Honor of the Kings’ Fosterlings whom brought back the youngest princess unharmed. As a celebration most of the courtiers and nobles were expected to attend the function.

The rest of the group either attended as audience [Harold and Felix], or participated in the events – Yon, a Knight of the Kings’ Court; Burgmor; Liam. The 16 year old crew did excellent and outmatched all in their “age bracket”. They noticed a good Joust between a Green Knight upon a Wolf and another Knight which ended in a Draw being declared.

Those in attendance enjoyed the bounteous meal and awoke to the Green Knight a several apprentices sprinkling dust that was waking up the revelers. Burgmor insistently inquired about what had happened realizing several hours had passed that he could not recall. The Green Knight found that a great sacrifice had been given and felt lesser for it.

The Green Knight found the Duchess Chi to be a great beauty and Liam tried to introduce her. Duchess Chi was gracious and mentioned how her betrothed had been valorous on the field of battle, for she only had eyes for him. Liam seemed to have a fit and the Green Knight escorted him away. Whereupon the Green Knight learned that Liam was conflicted but seemed to not to be interested in Marriage. The Green Knight proposed a method to avoid the marriage and Liam agreed. Loudly proclaiming a Challenge by Combat of Arms for the Right to Marry the Duchess he Gauntlet Slapped Liam [The Challenge was in front of the King and Royal Court]. Liam proclaimed his TRUE LOVE for Chi and accepted the challenge. The Duchess insisted her brave Champion wear her favor for the Battle. Another Lady, ‘Lady Summers’ asks to have the Green Knight wear her favor, but the Green Knight declines as his heart is for Chi alone. Unknown to everyone else, Liam and Green Knight had conspired together to have Liam throw the match; however they both knew that Liam had to put on a good show or else the audience would know it was a deceit.

Liam attacked and the force of the non-lethal blow was more than the Green Knight had expected. The Green Knight tried to land a blow but found his Axe deflected. Liam countered and knocked the wind out of the Green Knight. [A critical hit]. The Green Knight healed himself and then after realizing that Liam must have held back and had powerful magics, Dispelled Magic on Liam – the effort succeeds in dispelling all effects bestowed upon Liam. Both went back and forth, Green Knight tried to grapple but was countered. Finally Liam was offered the chance to Yield, but in that same moment saw his fathers face imposed upon the Green Knight’s face, becoming incensed beyond reason goes to deal lethal damage and unleashes another assault upon the unsuspecting Green Knight. In a fit of desperation and defense, the Green knight finally struck him down.

With Liam down, the Green Knight asks the King’s permission for the Hand of Duchess Chi, upon which he agrees, but Duchess Chi Contests the Duel upon the grounds that had magical healing not been used by the Green Knight, he would have succumbed to his injuries first which would have made Liam the victor instead. Burgmor seconds the contest of Arms. The King calls upon Brother Thadeus, whom through analysis of both combatants declares the outcome as challenged by Chi to be true. Duchess Chi then insists that she would not marry the Green Knight, for Liam, her True Champion, had proven his undying love and was the victor. The Green Knight conceded and the King being generous did offer him 10 acres of land as compensation for his valorous display and well-fought duel, the end result was the Duel was considered and Declared a Legal Draw, with the defender [Liam] keeping his original claim to Chi. The Green Knight in return, offered to pay for the Wedding as a gesture of goodwill and felt it should happen that very evening. Duchess Chi agreed and left to prepare with her bodyguard in tow.

The Green Knight then gathers Liam and the other “men” of the group and takes them around to the taverns, where they drank heavily and enjoyed each others company. Some discussions for the wedding plans do come up. Burgmor notices Liam’s Father exiting the Tavern but finds that he’s nowhere to be found. Burgmor then mentions this to Liam, who had already gone stony faced and was walking out of the building; upon hearing about his father, he instantly does an about face; but Felix persuades him to leave it, for it could be a trap. Felix then has an odd happening – he detects his ‘necklace‘ is walking away from him; enraged he becomes severely obsessed and transforms into a Wolf, a moment later the group sees that he’s become a fearsome Dire Wolf and pursing an ‘as-of-the-moment’ maiden who is ‘oblivious-to-the-beast-about-to-pounce-upon-her’. Green Knight calls his wolf, whom appears just a second later from around a corner and gives chase. Seeing that the Dire Wolf is going to pounce, in an act of desperation, he casts forth a Wall Of Fire in hopes of slowing the beast before foul deeds happen in front of him. The Wall of Fire causes Felix to hesitate a moment, allowing the Green Knight to close the remaining distance and actually put himself between Felix and the now fleeing Maiden. Meanwhile Burgmor transforms the Wall of Fire into an immense dark billowing smoke cloud which blinds Felix the Dire Wolf. When Felix exits the cloud, he’s snarling a warning, [Wolf Translation “Bone Mine give now!”] After a negotiation period, the Green Knight is able to retrieve the ‘necklace‘ and return it to Felix. Yon catches up and asks what he missed as he’s breathing heavily from the exertion.

They decide getting to the Temple is the best course of action, for a marriage is happening soon. While at the Temple, the Green Knight sees the maiden Summers whom he’d declined her favor during the Match of True Love earlier. He goes to one knee and proposes to her with eloquent speech, and then taking out a platinum coin, he transforms it into two identical rings. She accepts. Afterward he, and the other men are taken by Lucius and his band of Merry Men to get properly dressed for this momentous occasion. This includes a bath and proper grooming. Their new clothes are envious, and cost the Green Knight a pretty penny. Each has an outfit that is stunning and spectacular.

[Outfit Descriptions will be filled out in completeness at a later time] Liam’s outfit is Pearls with a small coronet with a Jade as the Center Piece above the Pearls; Burgmor has a Emblazoned Flames upon the Tuxedo Collar on either side; Felix Placeholder; Green Knight Placeholder; Yon Placeholder.

The Wedding ceremony is elaborate – Merrick stands in as Liam’s Father, The King ‘Kelharn’ stands in as Chi’s Father, Yon is the Best Man. It’s a Dual Wedding, with Liam and Chi, and Green Knight and Baroness Summers. All told fourteen (14) assassins are thwarted in their attempts to disrupt the wedding. Liam and Chi exchange elaborate and ritualistic vows including a very sacred Soul Binding Ritual that forges an unbreakable bond. In comparison the ceremony of marriage between the Green Knight and Lady Summers was simplistic but lovely. They exchanged their vows, but Lady Summers added a most peculiar phrase to hers “My soul forever bonded to you” at the end of her vow. At the end we had Duke Liam Lee Archon and Duchess Chi-Archon <first name="true">; and Baron Bercilak Bredbeddle – ‘The Green Knight’ – ‘Knight of the Kings’ Court’ and Baroness Summers.

After the marriage, the marriage feast had the ritualistic dancing with the newly weds. Simon was drinking from a fountain that appeared to be water, but ended up being a Pure Fey Wine. The Green Knight took a draft and promptly passed out from it’s Fey Goodness. <we>. Afterward the newlyweds consummated their marriage – For Liam, the Soul-bond apparently heightens the sensation and is akin to an empathic ‘knowing-what-the-other-feels-and-enjoys’, both were pure and unsoiled and enjoyed each other in a tender loving manner (Fade to Black) – For The Green Knight, being this is his Fifth Wife in 437 years of his life, he and his new wife were both tender and wild together, however lacking any Soul-Bond, they were left with the mundane joy of figuring things out on their own (Also Fade to Black).

Burgmor had gotten a promise that he’d be forgiven his debt for his crimes, and quickly left for the Magistrates Office to find out if this was true, as well as getting his Crime Anklet removed. Although elated he quickly noticed a palpable wariness, and tension in the air. Noting fortifications, and engines of war being mounted upon the city walls. When he asked what was going on, he was told that War was coming…

And So Ends The Session.
Player Log Submission – Mike:

So the gang meets up at the hideout after the big fun evil man was matched to the feathered cap man in the graveyard.
The reason we do not go to the mansion is that Chi cannot get inside without a fun special secret decoder ring.
We set up watch… Yon’s is uneventful but second is Harold and he spots a raven which watches the building we are in when it should not be awake, and he acrobatically grabs the bird. He yells at it to calm down. It surprisingly does. He wakes up Yon, who detects no evil from it and suggests the mage detects anything. The mage detects fading enchantment(charm) and it’s acting like a normal bird so he goes back to sleep.

In the morning, we hear the town crier, and there is a tournament that yon must attend (being a member of the town guard and nobility in the king’s court) as well as Dutchess Chi.. So we attend, and sitting in the stands is Luscious.. ERR, Lucius.

So, the others in our bracket are showing off. There’s a large wolf jousting with a greenish warrior ontop of it. They end in a draw in the jousting session.
There are also 14 year old kids at an archery range (one accused of cheating with a truestrike spell.)

Yon notices that a girl he is assigned to sometimes is in the court and present.
Liam and Yon win their matches, and the others who won the same competition matches are who Liam wishes to talk to.
We feast afterwards and during the feast we collapse. When we awake people are sprinkling powder on us as we wake to cold food and a later time of day.
Felix doesn’t seem to notice and still eats. Liam points the green armored man to Yon and Yon senses no evil from the knight.
Bergmore asks the Green Knight why we’ve lost time, and what happened. The GK either plays dumb or he’s not playing.
Bergmore persists and notices the Green Knight is not feeling the best, and the GK says it’s heartburn.
He mentions he protected us from something, and we’re lucky we lost only time.
Dutchess chi speaks with the Green Knight and Liam blushes, making cherries look white. GK says perhaps he can save Liam’s heart.
GK challenges Liam to a duel, to settle this like MEN for the dutchess chi’s heart. snickersnicker
There is a small crowd, including apprentices and the king overheard it.
They re-set up the field, this time for the duel. The terms are the one who submits loses the claim to Dutchess Chi.
The Green Knight seems to lose the battle at first… and keeps seeming to lose… (Nick got a crit)… GK tries to grapple to dispel the enchantments on Liam, and whispers for Liam to pretend to fight because he’ll kill the GK if he doesn’t. They apparently don’t want to kill eachother.
Bergmore notices the chatter and yell to stop talking and fight. Yon does too.
Green Knight asks Liam to yield, if Liam doesn’t, Liam will likely kill GK. Liam can’t publicly yield, so GK knocks him out.
GK heals Liam, bowing, and claims Chi to the king.
Chi sees that GK healed himself during the battle… and refuses!
Thadeus proclaims the GK would have fallen first, but the King proclaims since the GK was so Valorous and cunning in battle, he is awarded 10 acres of land.
A draw is declared.
The GK declares he will pay for and throwing the wedding.
We go to a bar and try to find Simon, prompting the I or G team to ask questions about Simon, which are answered over drinks.
We discover that Liam has ‘daddy issues,’ and that GK is trying to figure out how to make Liam fulfill his obligations.
Felix stops and reaches to his neck (where a necklace would be) and realizes there isn’t one. He shifts into a wolf and leaves, and goes into Dire form.
Yon isn’t fazed, but the others want to leave so they do leave to follow him.
The GK casts a wall of fire in front of Felix, stopping him for a moment.
Bergmore smokescreens and makes Felix even more slowed.
GK gets the girl which has Felix’ necklace so Felix won’t kill her for it. (his eyes are red)
Felix says “Mine.” through mental link.
GK throws the necklace to Felix.
GK offers the woman 5 gold and the woman runs away crying.
His wolf says there’s a third scent on that necklace, not the girls nor Felix’.
They all head back, and meet Yon huffing and puffing while running slowly to catch up.

Back at the castle, the wedding is soon, and the groomsman are dressed by Lucius, while the Green Knight funds the whole shebang.
He even shapes platinum in his hand to two rings, giving them to the Dutchess, and the Green Knight is now known as the Baron.
the Green Knight is marrying Lady Summers at the same time as Liam marries Dutchess Chi.
There are even assassination attempts on the Green Knight, Felix, and Chi, but they are thwarted.
Someone says “I do” when asked “does anybody object to this wedding” but there is a field in place and the person is arrested before anything can be done about it.
Yon is one of the two best men, and gives the ring to Liam. His ring is electrum and jade, hers is smaller, and also with jade. They’re shaped with yin and yang type symbols.
The “I do’s” of Liam and Chi are swapped, in a soulbinding marriage where they are bound while both souls are in any plane.
They are handfasted, they both glow white and blur, closer together seeming as one light.
Green Knight and Lady Summers swap rings and there is ritualistic swording they do. Her oath to GK is elaborate with a weird phrase she throws in there, oathing to bind her soul to him forevermore.

The reception afterwards is mostly uneventful… Simon tells GK that his time away from the war is short.
Yon dances with the girl who has a crush on him. He is a gentleman.
The couples consummate the marriages overnight.

Felix got a new bone, too… it even regenerates meat and he thinks he’s happier than Liam.
Liam gains prestige, and wealth, a title, and some spiffy new clothes.

All the soldiers are on high alert the next day.
Preparations were being made. The magistrate’s office had men fortifying walls and readying men for a large assault.

Don't Tread on Me

GM Recapped after food menu was taken.

The Cemetery was cleaned up – the Manor Rings lit up and led the group to the Manor Backyard. Merrick met with them and said Felix was acting a little stir crazy and seemed to miss romping with them. Felix the wolf came and mauled Yon.

Yon had Burgmor inspect his Sword, [it shrunk in Burgmor’s hands and he was impressed by it’s complexity], he was able to store a Lightning Bolt spell inside but couldn’t ascertain much about the sword.

The Group headed back to the Cemetery with Felix whom discovered a scent trace of a pentagram. Burgmor felt the power was beyond him and brought Merrick. Merrick along with Brother Thadeus, did a complex dispelling ritual, and then commented upon how it seemed a little too easy. Merrick took his leave as did Brother Thadeus.

The Manor Rings Flashed Red…

Meanwhile, poor Liam was consoling the Duchess Chi after her loss. Assassin’s struck Liam with a poisoned bolt which completely paralyzed him. Felix the wolf caught the assailants completely unawares and managed to trip both of them. Gaby showed up and watch and interfered after one shot a ray of fire on Felix [17 hp, ouch]. Gaby made short work of one, and then with Liam defeated the other. [Chi shoved something in Liam’s face which shook off the effects of the paralytic]. Liam discovers that the Assassin’s were from his father’s guild. Deciding it’s not safe here, they move the Duchess to a hide out [The manor won’t accept non-ring bearers it is learned].

They plan and strategize for the upcoming ransom transfer. Their plan goes according to plan, for the most part. A Shadowy figure appears on top of a mausoleum, and instructs the Duchess in the next steps. Another Figure wearing a Peacock Feather in his hat also appears. The Shadowy Figure makes a cutting remark about lack of muscle, to which Peacock does a preemptive strike [He mind speaks to those that failed their save “Grab the girl and run!”. The two figures have a demonstration of a wizards’ duel while the party deals with shadows trying to reach Duchess Chi. Liam, ever the hero get’s to the side of the duchess and fends off two assailants. He then grabs her and through amazing feats of acrobatics is able to sequester the Duchess to safety. Yon reaches the spot and causes an electrical nova followed by a nova wave. His pretty gem goes white. Felix goes to assist Gaby and Harold who have decided to confront the Shadowy figure. As they all run for safety, Felix does a parting shot that knocks the shadowy figure down and disrupts the Wizards’ Duel.

The group flees for a hidey hole…

End Game

EPILOGUE:

A young boy, perhaps eight, intercepts the group and hands Yon a crystal. Upon the transfer the crystal lights up and a “holographic” image of Peacock Man appears.

“Greetings, I had been prepared to die tonight saving your lives, but it appears you saved mine. I lack the resources necessary to properly protect the Duchess. The plans of the Tabarath Cult run deep, and with her as their puppet they would establish a power base to do more harm in the world. The Duchess has protective magics that will become active and protect her, but only if she is betrothed or married. Alas, I’m too old, and not interested in settling down. I’m sure she’ll find a suitable prospect closer to her age. Know that your part in all this is a complex pattern. The cult will only focus on you as long as she is unmarried, or until your next time conjunction. Do us both a favor and get the girl married. Though to the lad who saved my life – you’ve earned yourself a powerful and relentless enemy. Peace and Prosperity shine upon you”

Image disappears and the crystal splits into 7 rubies (appraisal would put them at 1,000gp each).

Elsewhere – Picking himself off the cemetery ground, the shadowy man looks around. Cursing Simon’s interference. The oracles had guaranteed that tonight would be highly favorable. The youths were weaklings and would not have been able to stop him from gathering the girl. The chosen ones were occupied and unable to interfere. Everything had said victory was his tonight. His superiors would be very disappointed in his performance. The Image of the Wolfboy was foremost in his mind. That one would not get away with this insult. He would pay. Those darn interfering kids – Let them savory their victory for tomorrow is a new day…

Family Reunions can be painful

GM NOTE: This is from memory for a game played back in March [writing this up October]

GM Recap

The group was deciding the course of action back at Merrick’s manor. They decided getting fuel for the ship was a good idea and decided to head out. The manor exit placed them in an alley. Liam spots his father, and rushes to attack the man. Liam rains mighty blows that would have felled any lesser man, as Liam’s father teleports away, Liam stays with him.

The group now realizes Liam is no longer in the area and begin frantically searching for him. At a point they realize they can use their ring to track him down. They end up at a warehouse that has a lone guard. The guard tells them they have no business here and they need to leave. Burgmor finally gets tired of the discussion and zaps him with a spell that kills him.

The group discovers a secret door leading into a hidden prison. They find Liam on a torture device so horrible that it can’t be written down, but it’s effect is to leave Liam begging for death. After causing more torture to his pain wracked body they manage to free him. They are able to get him healed, but the mental trauma remains. Liam ends up fleeing and hiding in his old house, pouting. He has a conversation with “Jeeves” the spirit butler of the Mansion. Harold finally tracks him down where there is an explosive encounter which Liam heads into the sewers, the group catches up and Burgmor initiates a fight with Liam. They subdue him and take him home to the manor.

Liam has a deep conversation with Merrick, to which the rest of the group is not privy.

That was the entire game to my recollection.

Mike’s Recap

Liam hears a female voice – faint and hard to hear. “Master I have prepared the troops. Do you wish us to proceed?” He responds “no, not yet.” to which the voice responds “are you okay” and Liam says “all things will come in due time” “I know you had to die for this to work but your voice sounds different?” “It’s just a light modification.” “has the dreadnought has been summoned, master?”, “No.” Liam has this conversation and the rest of the party are clueless.

As we walk, arms shoot out of the ground hands first and appear before us. We are surrounded by about 80 undead. They are turning towards us. Yon and Zahatal draw weapons. Liam felt something come out of him to cause the event. Harold goes for the nearest tree. His necklace jabs him in the chest. He’s surprised he even has a necklace. Looks like half a gold sunburst. Harold looks to Gabrielle, who notices she also has a necklace, which the opposite half of the sunburst. (wonder twin powers activate!) Yon commands Liam to command the undead to go away. Liam fails, and long spikes come out of their arms. Zahatal looks to Yon and says “You take the twenty on the left, I’ll take the twenty on the right.”

Four darer skeletons walk to the front. Yon says “What is your business!” “We seek the bearer of the ring.” and icicles form on their flesh. Liam says “Why?” Harold and Gabs finegle the necklace halves together and a burst of light happens amongst them. No reaction from the skeletons. The skeletons respond to Liam: “Because we need it’s power.” Yon responds “For what purpose!” Zahatal scoffs “Kill all the flesh-bags” “the flesh bags do not want to be killed.” They look menacingly at us. The zombies come closer and merge into eachother and get bigger. Yon says “Leave now and there will be no conflict.” The air temperature drops drastically. We all feel the cold icy glacier of evil wash over us, Yon Zahatal and Liam stand firm, while the others are affected detrimentally. Zahatal hits the creature, and some of the black coalescing falls off, but starts to not feel so good. Liam shows them that he has the ring, telling Zahatal to stop. Yon blesses his weapon, Harold retreats to the group. Zahatal backs up. The zombies all move in closer. Felix whimpers in the center of the circle. Gabs holds her action. Liam says he is the one they want, not the rest of us. (full defense mode) The icy chill increases tenfold, our breath comes out in mist vapors, and almost instantly turns to ice. The group fail to withstand the force this time, and all of a sudden, there is a large pop and blast of wind from above us. We look up and we see a shadow above us and lights appear to blast the ground from all directions. One beam of light focuses on us. Dirt is displaced when the smaller lights hit the ground. Armored archaic like suits are around us and are emitting light. The creatures in armor say “Master get on board.” to Gabby. Harold pulls Gabby up a ramp into a floating cave presented before us. Yon goes up the ramp as well, as does Zahatal, Felix, and eventually Liam. The ramp raises and the cave closes. It looks like an armored beast. there’s actually ribcages on the wall. Yon looks around asking one of the armored people “What manner of cave is this?” “This is not a cave.” “Then what is this?” “this is a flying vessel.” Yon investigates more. The suits walk down a hallway, and everybody follows into a large room with seats and weird tables and jewels set into them. Felix looks through the lit jewels. Some of the party sit. Harold absentmindedly tries to wiggle a jewel loose. Felix messes with some controls. He is overwhelmed with voices and is occupied. Harold looks kind of out of it to Liam, drooling. You might think he’s dreaming of pot pies, but Liam shakes Harold, and gets nothing. Yon investigates without touching things and detects evil. Everybody except Liam and Yon begin to preoccupy themselves in their head and drool. Zahatal discerns between several conversations in his head and focuses on one directed at him. He speaks and says “Who are you? I can hear you just fine” to the thin air. Liam has touched the console thinking there’s something to it, he hears a “Hello, how are you?” and thinks “fine how are you?” “I’m fine, it’s been a long long time since I’ve been awakened.” “Who are you?” “I’m a dragon, of course.” “My children. You have come back to me. It has been so long.” Yon is the last one unoccupied. He goes to an armor clad person and speaks to them. He figures out the group except him are talking on the alpha waves. They scan Yon and tell him they are talking telepathically. Felix instinctively ends up communicating with the dragon. The dragon says that he is a friend to it’s children. It seems happy it has found it’s children. It does have little power anymore and wants a focus stone. A very large ruby. Felix figures out the voice inflections and tone change the longer that he talks to the dragon.

Harold while communicating with the dragon feels the loving warm caresses on him of a soothing parent. The dragons apparently made a sacrifice. He figures out how he got the necklaces a long long time ago, and about how the parent needs a ruby. Gabrielle also communicates with her parent dragon. She learns the same things that Harold and Felix did, as well as informing them that he unwillingly caused the apocalypse. Yon asks more questions of the suit of armor. Liam hears the call from a skeleton saying “I have heard the call and I am coming.” Felix tries to figure out what Liam is doing psychicly and it fails. He then mind-links with Yon and tells him what he figured out and finally requests the coordinates of the ruby. Or merrick.

The group looks less icy and more pink. The ship asks us where we would like to go for it’s last bout of energy before it runs out. Gabby falls asleep after saying she’s hungry and tired and we’re not leaving unti….ZZZZzzzzzz…. Harold asks where the galley is, and wanders to it. Felix acts like he’s gnawing on his bone and secretly finds a corner to investigate the book. He falls asleep reading it. Liam asks what the voices know about necromancy magic. they are inconclusive about what exactly will happen so he goes to find food also. Zahatal wants to get the Ruby. Yon wants to get the Ruby or see Merrick, whichever the party decides on first. Back from the galley, they see Felix sleeping with the book. Harold puts the book away for Felix, and brings food to Gabby. She eats. The group decide to go to Merrick, and land near Hilsofar.

Felix wakes up and doesn’t see the book, searching for it. He finds it, and sighs. Then he gets up and goes with the group. The group finds a war zone with charred and dead bodies around. It appears that there is a large vessel (bowl?) made of bones, being constructed nearby. As soon as we head toward the city, a contingent of undead come toward us. We run until we have no choice but to fight. Felix teleports us to a dark alley. :) We walk by the graveyard. We see a massed hoard of undead inside of an opaque shell, and malcolm finds a group on a mausoleum. Yon and Zahatal go on around the cemetary. We see a shambling creature ahead. it notices us and rushes us. Harold hides down a side alley. Out of the ground a misty apparation appears, it cuts the thing in half. We all make our way to the mansion entrance and find it, making our way inside. We look for Merrick, and end up in the foryer. When we leave the foryer we go back to the foryer. Felix tries to sense minds, and finds one, but can’t seem to intelligably understand it. He tells the group. Harold tries to go to the study, and goes there, but it’s empty, and heads back to the foryer. Felix finds a place to hide and reads the book, and figures out, eventually, how to do the ritual to stop the event. He makes notes but he’s thinking he’s not sure he has the ritual in the right order. Yon knows that the blood of the innocents will be the first task. Everybody gets felix’ voice in their head and saying he knows how to stop the apocalypse. He’s going to teleport us to the cave where the wizard made the construct. Zahatal looks like Rambo when he comes back, with all sorts of weapons and things strung up on his body. We do not find the bones of the construct or the body of the necromancer. Felix remembers something about the end of the ritual requiring someone killing you to become a lich. Zahatal finds tracks leading out and follows them. In the wilderness, he broadens his circle, and can’t find the tracks easily, but he does find some, which lead towards Harrowdale. The tracks stop suddenly. Liam detects illusion magic, and finds a tunnel going down, then he walks down. Yon follows. Crossbow bolt flies out of the tunnel. Felix follows with a torch. A small goblin like creature reloading a crossbow, Yon hits the weapon out of his hand. “I serve thanator! Don’t hurt me!” Right behind the goblin are the bones that have formed. Felix identifies the bones, and we put the bones in a backpack. Felix tries to find the correct order of the ritual now that Yon isn’t as against the ritual being performed. Yon reads over his shoulder as does Liam. The final vagueness of the ritual is revealed, so the heroes perform the ritual in the cave that the original evil was unleashed in. Liam taunts the skeletons using the ring before it’s used in the ritual.

Everything disappears into a molten slag. Typically, the cave collapses. “RUN AWAY!”

Outside, it’s dark, but nighttime with stars and no red lightening. No bodies in sight. Liam feels permanently weaker somehow. —end session

GM Recap Summation of major events

Previous Sessions retold by Mike, introduction for the new player into the game.

We started with Sean’s character, Zhaital, given a brief mission assignment by Merrick. He leaves the Mystical manor situated in Hilsfar, and ends up in Harrowdale. He locates the Inn (“Prancing Pony” is the name agreed up) and waits for the characters to put in an appearance, getting a pint of ale while he waits. Liam is the first to notice ‘Frodo’ is missing from the group and leaves the “Rope Trick” to see where he went. He sees the room in complete disarray like a massacre had taken place, a hole in the wall where the window used to be, and blood all over. Liam heads downstairs and is engaged in conversation by “Z”. “Z” is brought up to meet the rest of the group, and is taken aback by the scene in the room. The rest of the group emerges, and the majority leap out the Hole in the wall and follow the tracks, they discover a pile of bodies (one body outside the window, and eight piles behind the inn). They lose the tracks and decide to collect their reward from Farmer Brown.

They decide they really should deal with the evil guy Liam almost faced out in the forest. They manage to locate the tunnel, and make it to the inner sanctuary. After some dialog, Liam enters in to start combat, and is surprised when a Undead Construct rises from the ground, upper cuts him and then engages. Both the monk/necromancer guy and the undead construct put up a valiant fight, but eventually the heroes wear them down. They collect the loot on the bodies, and discover a treasure chest in an adjacent room. Harold opens the chest and pulls out a nice rich looking chalice, and then everyone gets a vision (except Felix, who remained blissfully unaware). The vision showed dark black clouds and red lightning, and undead emerging from the ground. They decide to pack up and leave the lair. Felix holds on to his ritual book which describes the ritual. Liam uses the Necromancers ring and controls a small army of undead. He orders them to withdrawal, which saves them from continued destruction by Sir Frodo. We end with them deciding to return to Hilsfar and Merrick for much needed advice. —End game

Level 4 obtained by everyone.

Mike’s Recap:

So at the mansion Merrick talks to another youth he took in telling them the other youths need a big strong protector for them. So Merrick tells them that the other youths are down the street staying at the prancing pony. This youth is a Scottish kilt-wearing barbarian type. He heads to the inn, and waits.

The others wake up, and Frodo is not in the portal with us. Liam lowers the rope and enters the room. The room looks like it’s been the scene of a battle… blood, broken furniture, etc. The pungent odor of battle is present. A note seems to have been abused but intact after the struggle. Liam goes downstairs, and is confronted by the Scottish clad Zahatal showing him a wanted poster saying “this is you, yes?” and enrages Liam by saying Merrick gave him the wanted poster. Liam discovers that the boy was from the mansion. Liam acquantinces himself with Zahatal. By that time the others are investigating the room. Zahatal is curious about all the blood and the rope with felix popping his head out until someone mentions his bone and he goes back in. Yon looks to Zahatal and senses no evil. Yon then looks to Felix and can’t determine much.

Zahatal jumps out the window because he sees a body, and Liam jumps and tumbles after him. Yon shakes his head at the people that just jumped out, and Felix follows the other two and so does Harold extremely acrobatically. Gabrielle pokes her head down and says “Hey what’s… ohhh… yuck..” and comes out of the rope trick. Gabs asks Yon what’s going on. Zahatal says “pretty” to Harold’s acrobatics and Gabs says “That’s my brother.” Zahatal follows some tracks, Felix Liam and Harold run after him. Yon runs out of the inn the normal way. In the back of the Inn, Many bodies are dropped back there with much blood and guts – some mauled, some sliced open. Zahatal thinks they’re from a bear, and notices three different sets of tracks. Boots, bear, and human foot prints. Yon makes it back there. Yon asks if they are to chase the tracks. They lead to… an indeterminable location. We ask about a large creature (besides horses) and bloodied people, and find nothing. Liam goes back to get the parchment on the floor. He reads it and it has a one eyed snake on it. it reads “Gather 10 of your best men, converge on this room at this inn, this is where the doom bringers are staying.” We’ve only found 8 bodies, so more than two must be left. Yon realizes there must be some on the other side as well since there are three tracks. Liam notices his ring has many colors on it, and everybody checks theirs and finds theirs are multicolored as well. Yon suggests we follow up on the farm. We hear whistles in the distance and we see town soldiers heading toward the whistles. We hurry our pace toward the farm. There are bovines out in the fields. We go and knock on the door, but we hear people calling the cows. Farmer brown is calling some cows to be milked. Yon approaches the farmer and asks if the presence is gone, and the farmer says it is. (the reward will be given from the person from the inn)

We remember about the tunnel that we tried to excavate to find evil. The twisted gnarled mass of trees which makes up a hole in the descending ground is still there. It’s evil inside, and dark. Liam illuminates the place, and Zahatal gets upset. Yon reinforces the fact that not all magic is evil. Zahal lights a torch. The previous blockade is gone, and Yon lets Liam lead. Zahatal takes the rear. Marching order: Liam, Yon, Felix, Gabby, Harold, Zahatal. Liam goes down the tunnel and pops. The sound of a pop is heard and Liam apparently disappears. Yon stops and tells the others to stop and that liam has disappeared. Yon searches and liam pops back in front of him and Yon says what sort of magic is this? And Zahatal says “Told you.” Yon notices that if he can come back then we can be safe. Zahatal protests, and once through he knows magic did something to him. The walls are different, the floors are different, whatever else was around us is not there anymore. Liam warns that we should be on our guard. The walls are bone white and dirty, and are indentations of where things such as skeletons may have resided. Yon scratches an arrow pointing away from the portal and an X to mark where the portal was. 100 feet ahead of us there is a light. We get closer and we see the inside of a chamber. Liam takes a peek inside. Gabby feels a moist wind, and the rest of us just feel a breeze. Gabby protests. Small blond monk is sitting on the ceiling, with red eyes, and looking at Liam. “You dare interrupt my sanctum, mere mortals? At least your soul belongs to me.” Yon shouts back “Who are you?” “I am Thantor.” “I do not recognize that name.” The floor upercutted Liam, who was ahead in the room when the rest of us were back in the hallway. A bony construct that looks part bovine and remains of other bones strung together to make a large creature are both in the room. Yon sees something which must be evil, and runs forward, as does everybody else. Liam is hit again. Gabby continues to protest. Yon is attacked by the giant skeletal construct which hit Liam and missed. The monk is on the ground and his staff is beginning to glow. Gabby moves and tumbles to attack the construct while moving toward the wizard. Yon steps up afterward and slices, then Liam does some sexy damage. The barbarian slices and dices, and Yon is hit. Then the Barbarian is hit. Then Gabby is hit, and Liam hits the construct. Harold whiffs, BBEG Smacks Liam. Yon smacks it. There’s a lot of bone shards on the ground next to it. Zahatal, Gabby, and Harold wail on the wizard. Yon has been 5-foot stepping toward the wizard as he hits the construct. Felix mind-blasts the mage, and Zahatal kills it. Harold is whacked. Yon shatters the large creature with a final cleave. Zahatal is healed. The mage had a robe, ring, and staff. Liam grabs them before Zahtar torches the body. Felix dog-forms and finds a bone, chewing on it. Harold tries to take the ring from Liam, but doesn’t. Zahatar wants to destroy the ring. Liam wears the ring, and gives Harold one of his other two rings. The adjacent rooms have treasure… Harold opens it and finds a good looking chalice. Yon offers to carry it and sell it for equal portions to the rest of the group. Zahatar wants to destroy it. When Harold puts the chalice to the side, the room visibly darkens and a chilled fell scream make us feel the ooze of pure evil around us. We all see the surrounding countryside in our head. The clouds roll in pitch black, red lightening and hailstone hit the ground and undead are clawing out of the ground all over the area. A malevolent evil has been awakened. Z says “MAGIC BAD!” and the chalice that was all nice and pretty is no longer nice and pretty.

Gabrielle figures out that everybody except Felix saw the event. Yon suggests armor for Zahatar. Yon detects evil from the book. A standoff begins because felix wants the book and Yon wants him to leave it. It is agreed that the book will be brought to Merrick and he will dictate what happens next. Zahatar wants to destroy the ring too (IT’S MAGIC!) Felix heads out, and the rest of us follow. Gabby got a cloak out of the chest. We all head back to the inn to rest. The sky is Dark, it’s cold. Liam receives a mental message “we await your command, commander. We are under attack.” and Liam messages back “Retreat.” Six zombie like creatures are shuffling out of the forest for us. They stop and stare and bow. Yon ‘told-you-so’s Felix. Liam tells them to retreat, but they come back. Yon readies his weapon. The ring Liam is wearing shines and the undead shrink from it. Gabrielle notices and asks him if he wants to tell us anything. He admits he has a link with the zombies. Yon forces Liam and Felix to walk in front until they reach merrick.

Session 7b
New Year's Craziness AKA Title to be provided

This is a Mix Session as it’s a mixture of A and B groups.

Began at 12 noon and went till 2pm, then resumed at 6p and ended at 2am

We picked up with the ‘b’ team finishing up with the cow watching. Harold discovers a black furred dog licking his face. Much time is taken trying to determine his owner. The group decides to then track the undead from whence they came. They follow the tracks to a tunnel deep in the forest. Inside the tunnel Harold gets into trouble as he is attacked by undead. Liam comes to his aid, but has used most of his magics on a dog. When they both discover the main villain, they decide a withdrawal is in order.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in time and space – Iridius Senior came in from gathering firewood, Mrs. Iridius had roast Beast and Spiced Cider ready for the party when they awoke. Arky goes and buries a ‘time capsule’ filled with pottery and odd trinkets hoping they’ll be worth money in the ‘future’. Returning to the TARDIS, they discover the Eagle is not present and Arky decides he can control the ‘time machine’. Messing with the various crystals yields painful bruises and bumps for the party, and almost ends Malcolm’s life as he get’s sucked out into the vacuum of space. After sensing some futility, Arky and Malcolm explore the device, finding a bed room in the first door, they continue onward, Arky is sucked through the next door, and Malcolm shrugging goes in after him.

Malcolm and Arky find themselves in a dark with kids running towards them, and with skeletons in pursuit. A battle ensues in the tunnel when Arkansas Jones and Malcolm, lend their aid.

They all meet out side the tunnel and discuss things, it’s finally decided to return to Harrowdale for rest, when they notice that Liam has disappeared. Meanwhile, up a tree, Liam is haunted by the Necromancers’ voice and then attack by a strange bird that drains his very life away. Liam feels the cold hard panic set in when a mere moment later the bird is impaled by a small knight on a strange mount. The Knight is introduced as “Sir Frodo” who looks like a small elven child.

They travel and meet the group who is returning to Harrowdale. Gabby notices a beggar leave after Arky has declared his intention is to stay at an inn and he has gold to pay for it. They find the beggar finishing up using the alley as his personal latrine, when Arky takes the man prisoner and threatens him in unpleasant ways. Sir Frodo realizes that Arky has not so nice intentions towards the mans procreative equipment and steps in to stop him, and then wonders why he’s making a fuss when they’re obviously surrounded by men on the rooftops. Harold and Malcolm deal with the men on the rooftops with a bribe to leave them alone. Arky and Malcolm go to a tavern to discuss the details of the wanted posters out on their new companions. They don’t discover much about the “kids” and finally return to the designated inn after several hours of fruitless information gathering.

Meanwhile, the other group goes to an inn where the Knight somehow gets a rope trick set up. When Malcolm and Arky get to the inn, they discover Sir Frodo enjoying a meal, when asked where the others are he says safe in their room and then proceeds to lead the to the room. Inside the room Malcolm and Arky suspect a trap when they see the room is empty. Frodo enters in and a rope reveals the rope trick. Malcolm and Arky go up and find themselves back in the TARDIS hallway where this all started. Shrugging they return to the main console, not sure whether to mention this strange day to the others…
